We are a nationally registered charity that supports unmet needs for emergency medical and protective equipment, therapeutic animal welfare and disease research.
Prevention is better than cure. This also applies to crisis hot spots where stopping a lack of medical supplies for stopping blood loss (hemorrhage), reconnaissance methods to avoid a conflict, or intercepting incoming ordnance, can literally save a life.
In Ukraine, disruption of infrastructure and casualties continues in civilian and frontline areas. Dependency on reliable external support is now greater than it has been before.
Together with matching Australian donors since we've supported the delivery of emergency medical supplies, electricity generators, and preventative equipment with United Aid and Logistics to mitigate injury to volunteers in Ukraine.
Our Ukraine aid fundraiser has resumed! Our current focus is on medical equipment and drone interception measures. Donations are tax deductible in Australia.
Equine therapy is horse-assisted psychotherapy that allows participants to participate in grooming, feeding, leading and riding horses.
This helps enhance the quality of life of people with disabilities, and there is evidence that riding can stimulate cognitive ability. Equine therapy has been used to support physical, occupational and speech therapy for a number of neurological disorders including autism, cerebral palsy, arthritis, multiple sclerosis, head injury, stroke, spinal cord injury, behavioral disorders and psychiatric disorders.
We support the welfare of therapeutic mental health animals, in particular Riding for the Disabled, to provide food and infrastructure to support horses. Find out more about equine therapy in Australia, UK, and UK.
Donating to this cause will support food and maintenance bills for horses and the patients they support.
Scientists and clinicians are constantly uncovering the genetic and environmental factor basis to human cellular degeneration in disease and aging. While most of the 37 trillion cells in our bodies are constantly turning over within our organs, within each cell, 46 bundles of DNA (chromosomes), are constantly being manufactured, damaged, or repaired.
Genetic damage can occur at single positions or stretches of DNA that encode RNA, ultimately disrupting the structure or function of proteins that serve any cellular process. Damage can also occur at the epigenetic level with chemical modifications that control what genes are expressed. Environmental genetic and cellular damage sources can include exposure to airborne particles, pollution, plastic or wood particles, heavy metal or microbial toxins, UV exposure from sunlight, but also carcinogens in cigarettes, vaping, alcohol, as well as obesity or starvation.
Over time, a build up of genetic or cellular damage can include:
Buildup of oxidative stress from unstable oxygen molecules that damage DNA and proteins, fats within cell membranes and insulation of brain cells
Damage to conversion, storage, or transport of sugar, proteins or fat that are normally used as building blocks or energy (metabolism)
Damaged energy molecule producing organelles (mitochondria) including their own mitochondrial DNA
Buildup of protein aggregates resulting from defective transport and/or clearance mechanisms
Over-activated or malfunctioning neuronal networks and interfaces with muscle, affecting thought patterns, memory and movement
Build up of inflammation proteins and over-activated immune cells in the brain and the rest of the body, causing swelling, pain, and cell death
Build up of proteins that are linked to cancer (oncogenes), or loss of proteins that normally prevent cancer (tumour suppressors)
Loss of progenitor stem cell populations that normally replenish turnover of dead cells in almost every organ
Damage to cell division or maturation pathways, causing loss of function and organ damage
These factors can exacerbate each other, and in turn cause further genetic damage. Eventually, when some cell types are damaged or die more than others, they cause symptoms of neurological and age-related conditions, including diseases like Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and motor neuron disease. When oncogenes are activated or tumour suppressors genes are switched off by genetic damage, uncontrolled cell growth can also result in cancer.
It isn't possible to control what genes we're born with, but we can reduce the risk and progression of disease with a healthy lifestyle of a balanced diet, exercise, avoiding exposure to alcohol, smoking, sunlight and other environmental toxicity factors. Current supplements or drugs that can stop or reverse neurodegeneration and aging is limited.
We develop enhanced patient cell drug testing and data analysis methods to identify therapeutic strategies for degenerative diseases and aging. This includes better ways to generate human stem cells and conversion (differentiation) to mature cell types.
Your donation to this cause will help us accelerate research into slowing down deterioration of the human body, to promote healthy aging.
Donations are used for research and development, and validation costs in human cells and trials. Stay tuned for updates!
100% of donations are dedicated to target causes excluding platform transfer fees (e.g. PayPal or mycause), unless otherwise requested.
Donations of $2 and over are tax deductible in Australia.
